Like right now, she is looking at all sorts of jobs, trying to decide between electrical engineering jobs and patent jobs. A patent agent makes more money than an electrical engineer, and with her education, she could be a patent attorney – and you know attorneys make even more money. But she just isn’t sure if salary should be a factor in deciding – my common sense tells me to take the job with the most money! How else is she going to pay off those student loans?

The last time I was writing a novel draft I thought about setting the mood with a quote at the beginning of each chapter. It’s harder than it seems. I’m writing about the beginning of the Edwardian period and although I found an interesting absinthe quote for the chapter where my protagonist inexplicably finds himself in Paris, I can’t seem to tie together a quote for each of the other chapters. I have half maybe. So I’m debating whether I should stick with the idea at all if I can’t pull it out of the bag for all of it. An idea half-done is not going to cut it.
